Letter from Ian 12th September
I know this has been a difficult week for some people in our church family, not least Christine Kettridge who was told on Thursday that there was no more treatment available for her cancer and that her life expectancy could be measured in weeks rather than months. Please do contact Christine, but only to tell her good news or share a joke, she really does not want lots of sympathy - it will only upset her.
On a more positive note Ges McCluskey (Maureen's husband) had a successful operation on Monday and is now recovering at home. Also Kate Montgomery remains in hospital but it does seem that now she has a diagnosis things are more hopeful. Kate is waiting for one more test result before being discharged, so please pray the test is negative and the discharge follows quickly, followed by an equally speedy full recovery.
SPRING HARVEST 2021
Next Sunday, 20th September, is the deadline for booking and paying your £35 deposit, so please be in touch with Miriam 01536 400225 if you have not yet booked. Details are available in the 2021 NOTICE.
This has been a quiet year for our Traidcraft Stall, but it is important we don't neglect this because the producers of fairly traded goods need our support, not least as the Fairtrade Premium on these goods provides additional services for them, such as medical care. Again please contact Miriam 01536 400225 if you would like to buy any of the items we regularly have in stock (tea - including herbal tea, coffee, chocolate, etc). Miriam can also order anything from the new Autumn/Winter catalogue available online at www.traidcraftshop.co.uk and save you Postage & Packing costs.
This week's children's resources "Energize Extra Ideas" are here. These will be available for children coming to church on Sunday but otherwise you can open these and have fun at home. Also available are Steve's latest set of puzzles. Steve will continue to provide some online puzzles, but hopes to have a printed copy of SCANS available in a week or two so do look out for that.
THIS WEEK'S SERVICE
I hope everyone who was expecting an invitation to a service this week has had one. If you have not had an invitation, or have not yet been back to church but would like to, please do get in touch. The services next week are at 9am and 10.30am on Sunday 20th and 7.30pm on Wednesday 23rd. I am pleased that the government's "Rule of Six" does not restrict our services, but we must be especially mindful of this before and after services in church.
A big thank you to Rosie for putting together this week's ONLINE service, some of which was filmed in church during Thursday morning's service. There is a PDF version attached and the link to the youtube playlist, which as usual contains a good selection of songs, is here:
I hope you all have a good week, please do get in touch with any prayer requests or anything else that we can help with.
God bless you all,
