Letter from Ian 16th May
Dear St Columba's family,
Please accept my apologies for the lateness of this message. We have had some technical problems today which meant I had to re-record some of the sermon and then Jo had problems uploading to youtube, but all is now well. I also had to deliver the 11 printed copies of the service to people who are not online, which together with the 99 people who receive this email mean that well over a hundred people have access to our Sunday worship. If you know someone who would like to be added to either list do let me know - it would be great to reach 100 emails! There are also people who access the service from our website, including Kevin Montgomery who will be joining us as our new curate at the end of June - please do pray for Kevin and his family at this time of transition.
Can I also ask you to pray for Anne Kenney, who is in Kettering Hospital with coronavirus, and also Margaret Freeland following Bryan's death last week. Bryan's funeral will be on 26th May, a quiet family committal at the Crematorium followed, at a much later date, by a Thanksgiving service in church (this was actually Bryan's wish, although he would have imagined the two services on the same day, not months apart!) On the subject of prayer I was speaking with Nat in the week and she asked me to send her love to you all and to say that she is praying for us.
Can I thank people who have given to the church, and remind you that online donations are very welcome, the church bank details are as follows:
HSBC Corby Sort Code 40-18-12
St Columba PCC Account No 31372947
Some people have dropped giving envelopes in to the Vicarage which we are happy to accept if you are unable to give online.
A couple of other notices:
Bible Reading Plan - next week a new edition of our 2+ year Bible Reading Plan will be attached to this message and the printed orders of service. If for any reason you need a printed copy please do let me know. I have also kept forgetting to say that there are some copies of the "Word for Today" Bible Reading notes for May to July at church, again if you would like a copy please do let me know.
The Traidcraft Stall is open for phone or online orders - if you have been missing your favourite Fairtrade chocolate, or anything else from the stall, do get in touch and we can arrange delivery.
Finally I meant to include a link for the lectio 365 app that was mentioned by several people in our Spring Harvest service a fortnight ago. This can be downloaded from: https://www.24-7prayer.com/dailydevotional
And so here are: the usual Energize age related sessions, and an extra ideas section that relates to this week's service theme; the latest instalment of Puzzles from Steve and a PDF version of the service for those who find that helpful.
The link to the service is here:
I am sure many of you will have seen the UK Blessing that comes at the end of this service - it is worth watching again to rejoice in the wonderful celebration of unity among God's people that it represents.
With love and prayers to you all and, as ever, do let me know if there is anything you need or that we can pray for you. Don't forget to phone a friend from church while you drink a coffee after the service.
Every blessing to you all
