Letter from Ian 18th April
Dear St Columba's Family,
I hope you are all keeping well and finding ways to keep in touch with your loved ones during the lockdown.
This week many of us would have been away at Spring Harvest, and have instead been enjoying a taste of what would have happened at Skegness from Spring Harvest Home. This week's service (see the link below) is mostly borrowed from Spring Harvest Home. It is an All Age service, with lots of good worship, prayer, Bible reading and teaching, and definitely something to do with children if you have any...or you could arrange to watch at the same time as your grandchildren and then phone them up (perhaps during the prayer time - you'll see what I mean when you reach that part in the service). The youtube sequence begins with a pre-worship song, followed by an introduction from me, then the Spring Harvest All Age service (which it says is for Easter Sunday but is relevant any day), before a recap and blessing from me and a couple of more familiar songs to finish.
The Spring Harvest Home material is still available on the Spring Harvest youtube channel - so do have a look at that, I thought Pete Grieg's Devotionals were especially good (they are available on the Main Sessions (Catch Up) Playlist. There are lots of resources for children and young people, so we have not attached any Energize material this week.
The church is suffering, like most charities, from a drop of income over the last month. We have no collections, envelopes or Hall rental money coming in. At the same time we have the same outgoings, including our largest expense the Parish Share which covers the cost of ministry. We understand that some people will be less able to give at the moment because their income has gone down, and if that is you please do not worry if you have to reduce your giving to the church at this time. But if you have money but no way of giving it to the church can we ask if you can do online banking and make a payment (either a one off or a regular standing order) to the church bank account? The details of the account are: HSBC Corby, sort code 40-18-12, account no. 31372947. The full name of the account is: St Columba and the Northern Saints Church PCC. This is probably too long for most online banking, in which case I would try "St Columba PCC" rather than Columba's.1 THANK YOU for anything that you are able to give.
PRAYER GUIDE and QUIZ
There is a Prayer Guide for coronavirus from the Church of England, which includes prayers on a number of topics as well as an order for Morning and Night Prayer that you can say at home, either alone or with others in your home, or over the phone with a friend. And finally Steve's latest Quiz.
Every blessing to you and your families,
