Letter from Ian 19th December
I hope those of you who joined in with Doorstep Carols last Wednesday had a good time and both enjoyed the opportunity to sing but also shared a special time with your neighbours.
We have three very exciting Sunday services this week as we enjoy our annual Energize children's Nativity play - with a difference, it was all filmed at home and edited together by Kevin to produce the final film. If you won't be in church tomorrow, or you want a second look, the Nativity is part of this week's online service, together with a sketch from the young people in Get Closer, a sermon from David Bavin, and a selection of Christmas songs, old and new. There is no PDF of the service this week as most of it is the Nativity and sketch but here is David's sermon. The link for the service is: Children's Nativity Service - 20th December 2020 - YouTube
I do hope the dramas in the service will serve as a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas, how the Son of God came to be the light of the world in spite of his humble birth in poverty and danger. His birth was, of course, serenaded by the glorious praise of the heavenly host, surely a foretaste of heaven. If you need a further reminder what Christmas is really all about then look no further than our services on Christmas Eve, when, in place of our usual Christingle service, we have a family friendly, Covid safe, pop-up Nativity service, telling the Christmas story in the style of "We're all going on a bear hunt". This service will happen at 3.30pm and be repeated at 5pm but you MUST book a place, either by contacting me (email@example.com, phone or text using the numbers below) or via eventbrite at https://stcolumbaschristmaseve.eventbrite.co.uk/
We also have a Family Communion service on Christmas morning at 10.30, if you would like to attend that, and have not already been in touch with Miriam or myself, please do make contact and we will be pleased to invite you.
There are no separate children's resources this week as the children have played such a part in the service and will no doubt enjoy watching themselves on the big screen, either in church or at home.
Here are Steve's latest puzzles, and don't forget the latest printed edition of SCANS is available FREE of charge in church. Also in church are copies of our 2021 diary at £2 each. If you are not going to be in church but would like a diary just let me know and we can deliver one to you.
Finally let me wish you all a very Happy, Peaceful, and this year especially, Healthy Christmas.
God bless you all,
