St Columba's Corby

Open to God... open to you

Letter from Ian 25th December 2020

Happy Christmas Everyone,

I am writing this message at the time I would normally be taking a Midnight Communion service, celebrating the arrival of Jesus our Saviour as a tiny baby in a stable all those years ago. But as a result of that event Jesus comes into our lives today, so it is not simply an historical event we celebrate, but a life changing experience for each and every one of us. So why not stay up until midnight to celebrate - we do that for so many other reasons - except of course we can't do all the celebrating we would like to this year, including having a Midnight Communion. Having said that we have enjoyed some special Christmas celebrations at St Columnba's, not least the Nativity that the children filmed at home, and the Pop up Nativity that we held this Christmas Eve afternoon. You can watch an animated version of this story by going to the following link:

Our celebrations continue in church on Christmas Day, and a shortened version of that service can be watched at home via the following link:

On Sunday 27th December we only have one service in church, and it looks like it will be a full house. For those who are unable to be there it will be live streamed so you can watch at home, either live at 10.30 on Sunday or afterwards via the links below. It is a Communion service, so do have some bread and wine or fruit juice ready when you watch.

I hope you will all be able to enjoy some Christmas celebrations and of course we all look forward to the New Year, although it will be a long while before we are able to gather in the way we would like to.

May God bless you this Christmas,

Ian
