St Columba's Corby

Open to God... open to you

Letter from Ian 28th March

Dear St Columba's Church Family,

Greetings to you all and I do hope and pray that you are all keeping well and have everything you need. Miriam, Jo and myself are fine, and have been busy putting together a service for Sunday.

It is something that you will mostly have to READ, but the songs, which are those chosen by Trevor for this Sunday's service if it had been in church, are all on youtube, so you can join in by clicking on the links in the Service for 29th March.

You may like to start this service at 10.15 just as we would in church BUT REMEMBER the clocks go forward this evening! I have suggested that people might then phone one another over a coffee at home after the service, which should be about the same time if we all start at 10.15.

There are now resources for Energize, as our children are not able to go out to Energize groups the groups are going to them. Urban Saints who produce the Energize material we use, have created a series for these times called Energize at Home. We are planning on putting these out weekly for families to use. The activities don’t all have to be done at once and there are some choices, but you may like to do them over the week depending on resources, etc! There are separate sessions for each of the groups (3-6, 7-10 and 11-14) but some activities can be done by all, particularly if you have children in different groups. Just use them in a way that is helpful for your family and do let us know how you get on using them or if there are any problems accessing anything. If parents would like to go on the Energize website we can add you for this period, so just let Miriam know.

May God bless you and your family as you access this resource.

There is also a letter from Derek and Jane Waller in Madagascar. Please pray for them as coronavirus has reached Madagascar and, like so many African countries, the health system there

is far less able to cope than our NHS.

Don't miss the NOTICES which are at the end of the Service, and include information about Traidcraft and Spring Harvest, which is going to be available in people's homes and everyone will be able to join in, not just those who had booked to go. So keep the days from 13th to 17th April free - which shouldn't be too difficult at the moment!

Of course there are lots of other resources available, including on RADIO (8.10am on Radio 4), and TELEVISION (Sunday Worship 10.45am on BBC1) and Songs of Praise (1.15pm BBC 1).

Finally a big thank you to everyone who responded to my last email - it was a joy to have an inbox full of messages from the church family!

May God continue to be with you all,

Ian
