Letter from Ian 29th August
Good afternoon everyone,
It has been wonderful to see many of you in church over the last week and I look forward to seeing some more of you tomorrow and on Wednesday evening. After that there will be another invitation for a service the following week, so look out for that. Please do RSVP to the invitation so we know exactly who is coming. If there is anyone who has not yet been back to church and would like to join us then do please let me know and we can include you on the list of people to invite. It is especially helpful to have lots of flexibility in your choices of when you can attend services as we obviously can't fit everyone in at 10.30 on a Sunday morning, so if you are available on Sunday at 9am or 5pm, Wednesday at 7.30pm or Thursday at 10am please do let me know.
Thank you for people who prayed when Sheila's daughter Libh went missing, I am pleased to say that she has been found and has returned to the mental health unit.
Thank you too for praying for Kate Montgomery and please do keep praying. Kevin reported this morning: "Kate is still not great, in fact seems to have gone backwards today, barely slept last night and had a temperature of 39.5c at one point. Hoping that it’s just the main injection she had on Monday wearing off and the next one this Monday will help her continue to improve. I’m continuing to pray for improved production of blood and healing for her immune system." I hope that gives us something to focus our prayers on.
In the current circumstances it may seem strange to be thinking about booking to go to an event like Spring Harvest. But this has been such a blessing to many of us, especially this year when it was all freely available online, that it might be more appropriate to think, why not book to go to an event like Spring Harvest, especially as there is a guarantee so bookings can be cancelled at much shorter notice. All the details are on the document "2021 NOTICE" so do have a look and, if you want to book, make sure Miriam has your name(s) and deposits by Sunday 20th September.
We are not yet starting back the Children's Groups at church, but from tomorrow will be making available to all children at church, the Energize Activity packs that have been emailed out. This week's pack is here for anyone who is not going to be in church, but if you will be there you will receive your own copy in church.
THIS WEEK'S ONLINE SERVICE
This week Kevin filmed the service on Thursday morning for our online offering this week, with the addition of some songs from youtube that were obviously not part of the service in church. So even if you were there you might like to watch and join in the singing. The link is below and there is a PDF. It is worth saying that previous services remain available, either via a link in an old email or from our website www.stcolumbascorby.org.uk (Editor's note: on the Services At Home page)
And finally, for some light relief on a wet and cold Bank Holiday, here is Steve's latest offering of puzzles.
Every blessing to you all,
