St Columba's Corby

Open to God... open to you

Letter from Ian 3rd October

Hello Everyone,

It is great to begin my email with some good news and I am pleased to say that I have just returned home from celebrating the wedding of Matt & Leanne Kettridge, with little Ruby as a bridesmaid well on the road to recovery after her heart surgery just ten days ago. It was great to be reminded of those words from 1 Corinthians 13 that "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." This is the love God has for us, and the love we should all have for one another.

Please continue to pray for Alois and family, still waiting for Linda's parents to arrive in the UK, so no news about when the funeral will be, and also for Mary Craig following the death of Rodger last week, as well as for the ongoing recovery of Kate Montgomery, and for Christine Kettridge that she has many more happy days like today.

This week is Harvest and our services in church and online reflect that. Thank you to Kevin for preparing them all. There is the usual PDF words only version of the service and the link for the youtube service is here:

Our Energize resources are also based on Harvest, in the more traditional format of three age related sets rather than the Activity Packs of recent weeks - we will be back to those as we continue the story of Moses next week.

On the subject of Harvest if anyone would like to make a special donation to the Food Bank this can be brought to any service in church, dropped off at church on a Wednesday morning between 10.30 and 12 noon when Food Bank is open, or taken to the Vicarage.

Also there is the latest Prayer Update from Hope from Above. This reminds me to say that the PCC will be discussing where the church's charitable giving should go this year at our online meeting on Tuesday evening. If you have any suggestions please do let me know as soon as possible and in any event before 7pm on Tuesday so they can be considered at that meeting.

Finally we have the latest Puzzles from Steve, don't forget that there is a FREE printed edition of SCANS available in church. If anyone would like a copy of this and is not yet coming back to church please do let me know and we can arrange to drop one off. The same applies to the new Bible Reading Plan if anyone missed out on receiving a copy when it came out a couple of weeks ago.

And finally don't forget that, if you have not yet been back to church and you would like an invitation to a service, to let me know.

God bless you all,

Ian
