St Columba's Corby

Open to God... open to you

Letter from Ian 6th June

Dear St Columba's Church Family,

I must begin with some good news about Kevin Montgomery, who will be joining us as our Curate at the end of this month. Kevin is now fully recovered from whatever illness he had, which was not Covid 19. Unfortunately he will not be ordained until September, but will be a licensed lay worker in our church until then. Please pray for Kevin, Kate and their family in this time of transition, which will include completing all Kevin's college work (held up by home schooling and illness) and a move to Corby (although we don't yet have a date for that).

Miriam and I were meant to be on holiday this week, and so it has been appropriate that we have taken a week out of service and Energize preparation. Many thanks to Rosie for putting this week's service together, and all those who helped, and to Bishop Donald who is our guest speaker this morning. There are just Energize Extra Idea resources this week (Editor's apology: not on the website due to technical issues). If you and your children enjoy using the age related sessions please let us know, otherwise we may simply include this "Extra Ideas" PDF each week from now on.

The PCC met on Zoom this week and among other matters discussed our church finances. Unfortunately our income has gone down since the lockdown, partly because of loss of rental income from the Hall and partly because of lost cash collections from church services. If you have money that you would like to give to the church the easiest way is to make an online Bank Transfer to:

Sort Code 40 18 12

Account No 31372947

Alternatively you can put the money in an envelope and bring to the Vicarage. Of course we do understand if your circumstances have changed and you are less able to give at this time. We are most grateful to all contributions that have come in over recent weeks, either by standing order, bank transfer, or cash to the Vicarage.

We have received the latest Prayer Letter from Derek & Jane Waller in Madagascar, please do read this and pray for Derek & Jane and the church there. On the subject of prayer please remember Jane Simpkin and her family as Jane's mum's funeral is on Friday morning at 11am. Also we have Steve's latest selection of puzzles.

The link for this week's service is below and there is a PDF version:

Don't forget to give someone from church a ring after you have finished watching the service.

With best wishes to all,
