Letter from Kevin 10th October
Dear Church Family
We are already on the second Sunday of October, and I can see the leaves starting to turn on the trees, Summer giving way to Autumn. It was great to celebrate our Harvest Sunday last week at St Columba, St Leonard are having theirs this Sunday, and we collected just over 160kg of food – fantastic to have such generosity in this season. Our reading from last week was Psalm 65 and the phrase ‘You crown the year with your bounty’ comes back to mind, we are God’s hands in this as we serve those in need in our town.
There is the small matter of Christmas coming up in a couple of months, you may groan that I’ve mentioned it already, but believe it or not I have my first Christmas meeting coming up on Tuesday to discuss how to do Christmas well in this locked down and restricted season, is it too soon for a mince pie? I won’t comment too much more other than to say that obviously with restrictions as they are we will be putting on our thinking caps and our praying hats and looking to what we think God is calling us to over this season.
Before that of course we do have continuing services at St Columba, and hopefully you should have received an invite to at least one of the upcoming services over the next couple of weeks. Ian and Miriam are away this week and not back until after next Sunday – please do keep them in your prayers for a restful and relaxing break.
If there are any issues that come up whilst Ian is away you can get hold of me via this email or by phoning 01536 647727.
Church Family and Prayer
I know there have been a large number of prayer requests over these last few months, each and every one is heard and valued by our Father in Heaven, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us ‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances’. It is not always easy to ‘rejoice always’, particularly when times are hard, but we press on with ‘pray continually’ and the Montgomery family have been grateful for all the prayers we have had in this season.
Please continue to keep Alois and family in prayer, I understand they are still waiting for visa clearance for Linda’s parents, please pray for a breakthrough in this area. Please also keep Mary Craig and family and friends of Rodger in your prayers.
Sheila has let me know that Carla’s operation is scheduled for the 15th October, so please remember her in your prayers that day particularly. Graham, her son-in-law is in need of an operation so let’s pray that scheduling that will be quick and easy.
We continue to pray for Christine Ketteridge, and for Matt and Leanne in these early days of their marriage.
If you have any prayer requests do let myself or Ian know.
This week’s service
We are back to looking at the story of Moses this week and the online service is available here;

Peace and Grace to you all for the coming week, I will be praying for us all each morning, may God be with us as we seek Him this week.
